The Lower Limb Double Amputee Song
I‘d put my best foot forward
But I haven’t got a foot
I’d walk a mile in your shoes had I feet
But I can’t fit your shoes on the bloody stumps
Somebody told me I had crow’s feet
And I though ‘Fuck!, if only’
I’d keep both feet on the ground
But unfortunately I don’t have either
I’d like to stand on my own two feet
But they were left in the hospital incinerator
Thank fuck I don’t have to vote with my feet
That way the other guy would get elected
You can’t pull the rug from under my feet
Still my wheelchair can cause serious rucking
Some people have two left feet
I have no left feet or right feet for that matter
I will never hear the patter of tiny feet
Well, certainly now, Not my own
I can’t get rushed or swept off my feet
I am just gonna let the grass grow under my stumps
I’m gonna teach myself to walk on my stumps
They already look like elephants trunks
Some day I am hoping to find my feet
Is there a grave yard for dead feet?
When I die, will they put me six feet under?
Or will they subtract the two I’ve lost?
I don’t have one foot in the grave
They’re both already there
But I haven’t got a foot
I’d walk a mile in your shoes had I feet
But I can’t fit your shoes on the bloody stumps
Somebody told me I had crow’s feet
And I though ‘Fuck!, if only’
I’d keep both feet on the ground

You put your left stump in
You pull your left stump out
You do the hokey-poky and you turn yourself around
That's what life's all about...
You just need to find your footing in life, everything after that is a walk in the park.
Be careful not to stick your foot in your mouth, hoof-in-mouth disease is going around...
On the bright side, you can get blades to replace your shoes and run in the Olympics!

honest critique does not permit personal insult
Not entirely sure what made you think that your comments would be acceptable under any circumstance.
I have to advise you that on both counts you are wrong. A) I was not feeling sorry fro myself I was injecting humour into a difficult situation - that's a huge difference. B) Again you are wrong who said this? "Poetry without self is just a training manual" - I'll let you do the research - any and all creative writings includes parts of the intimate self of the author
it might be advisable to try to think, before making comments
Here Endeth The Lesson

I have to say, not the kind of comment I was expecting today, especially surrounding this poem I better advise he not to read some of the older stuff
Anyway thank you for your positive input :-)

I can't believe someone would have the audacity to accuse you of wallowing in self pity, to bad there missing out on your bright light! Another excellent piece my friend. Much love and mad respect,

You are amazing, this isn't wallowing, this is putting yourself out there and facing it head on. I do believe poetry is supposed to be about ones self, and reflect society, any artform does. You are very brave, I hope you keep your head up, and keep writing the way you do best.

As I have already said I saw both poems as comedic, they made me laugh despite their accuracy - I think most people who know me get that. I do agree that poetry can and will be about self as it is coming from self - I do not accept or believe that anyone can write purely from imagination - all our writings contain part a part of self
anyway thank you for your support :-)

There's a difference between self pity and making light of an obstacle you are facing. It's too bad some people can't realize the difference. Poetry should have one's self injected into it, honesty and vulnerability is where it's at. I felt like this was a fun, therapeutic write for you. Enjoyed reading.

you have hit the nail right on the head - it was both fun and therapy for me to write. I suppose I expected that the readers would see that and the readers who know me did see that - there is no accounting for rogue elements
thank you for your understanding and wise words :-)
