"The Shallows"   छिछले   chhichhale

I saw you standing there in the cold
   dark shallows, your heart was
 suspended there on something
that had the appearance of gallows

Words they were, but in essence
    they had the same effect...

Love and Trust that have choked
the life out of many and brought
   about their untimely death

We hang on them so completely
disarmed and with the best of
intentions, never realizing that
the one's we avow them to
may not feel the same, and
have plans that are cruelly
             malicious

We give them up, but know that
they're pieces of our souls, and
if their offering isn't requited the
offense committed against us
   diminishes their property
within us, leaving us weakened
           and not as whole

So if you ever feel the cold chill
of standing in the shallows with
 an aching within that's empty
  and bereft, you've probably
at one time been hung-out on
the gallows of Love and Trust,
  and experienced its death
