Of Blood And Brick..............(for Paul 7/31/11)
Today I kneel, me and my dad
In the 30 years, since I was a young lad
I've seen this dream deep inside my glass
Clouds in my coffee, I've finally made it at last
Kneeling here before God and Man
I feel damned near immortal; I thank every fan
Overwhelmed, emotions run thick
At last, My time to kiss these sacred bricks
For this yard of bricks, men have died
Souls have been lost, others immortalized
It's been said, "Eh, the kid ain't got no heart;
he's had the the golden key right from the start.....
But since 89, we've seen it- me and Dad
And I've seen my family give everything that we had
So much sacrificed; more than many will ever know
Finally ,the star of this story. And so.............
Oil and gas and blood and sweat
Through pain and with death, many have paid their debt
Through clouded eyes filled with tears I can't restrict
I honorably bow to kiss this yard of brick.
In the 30 years, since I was a young lad
I've seen this dream deep inside my glass
Clouds in my coffee, I've finally made it at last
Kneeling here before God and Man
I feel damned near immortal; I thank every fan
