Seriously, how many of us set out to do the things that others desire and succeed?  It`s almost like a dare, and the symbol of scars to prove you were there ... I enjoy when others read more into them than what I put in. I pity those who travel the well worn path for the fact that there will be no reward for those that follow the herd. This poem, to me, turned out this way because I don't think human nature should be prohibited to the beliefs of weak willed fools. You should let yourself be free to find out who you really are.

Although some might see this as a metal song, I put a lot of thought in this one. Your comments always enlighten me. Thank you for your kind words and seeing past the obvious and into the meat of the matter.

The title alone...pulled me in.
The layers beneath, which we hide in everyday life. The scars and callouses.
Being who everyone expects you to be, rather than who you scream to be on the inside.
So much detail in this dark masterpiece.

thank you. for some it is a struggle to be who you really are. A lot of people has constraints like family or jobs that expect you to hold a certain image. It is a shame that we are burdened by such things.
