Metaphysical High
(collaboration of The Utopian Society)
On the spot, high on pot,
Don't get caught
Here's the plot.
Medicine men
From wide and far,
Gathered again,
Followed the stars
Awakening this slumbering chaos, enigma
Bearing novis ordo seclorum insignia
Emerged from a portal in stonehenge, utopia
Molecular evil cornucopia, euphoria
And a vigorous dystopian dream
breaks up the attained harmony
of utopian babble, and misological ranting;
"once upon a time" is an expression
that looks backwards rather than forward,
and from there,
from the pure power of what is,
all paradise breaks forth.
The toke of mary-guana has exploded my elementary dichotomies.
I am one of those thinkers who thinks in terms of something
that lies beyond the dichotomies of thought.
Nagarjuna, the Buddhist philosopher,
taught me the formula: X, not X, X and not X, neither X nor not X.
This to me is precious gold. Neither X nor not X is my key to heaven, nirvana,
the ultimate utopia. Neither X nor not X catapults the mind and raises it beyond.
This applies to poetry as well.
Poetry comes from the ultimate spontaneity of being;
from an indeterminate place to assume form and expression.
it is beautifully pure yet there is room for refining
There is always room for refining, my brethren.
My buddy Jacob taught me the master equation:
1=0, 0=1 Free Kin See, Free Kin Sea
Thus all binary numbers form an illusion.
An illusion of a reality
But a reality nonetheless
I like fine distinctions.
I wouldn't call it a reality, but a subsistence
as opposed to an existence.
Not fully real, but not completely unreal either.
They still depend on a mind for their subsistence.
Perhaps the refining that, is referring to is a function of being in time.
For us it's always a process, ongoing, future oriented;
whereas the metaphysical reality we're intimating
may well be beyond time.
If so, it's always perfect, refined, and complete.
But that's not our experience.
We are beings who strive, thrive, evolve;
we're only dealing with our perspective.
Yet, through reason we can sidestep our experience
and know things that go beyond it.
