songbird
2 second armageddon
in the exit wounds that were my eyes.
i clenched my teeth down on the hundredth bullet.
see your solar eyes, sweetheart.
if you could see without them,
we would see each other.
i remember the day i learned
that we were doomed.
where the sky ebbed
and the end of days began.
my eyes were green then.
but sometimes brown.
i could stare at you for days
and never see you.
i heard
the dead arpeggios
of a songbird.
i heard the buildings burning
and falling somewhere in the distance.
in the exit wounds that were my eyes.
i clenched my teeth down on the hundredth bullet.
see your solar eyes, sweetheart.
if you could see without them,
we would see each other.
i remember the day i learned
that we were doomed.
where the sky ebbed
and the end of days began.
my eyes were green then.
but sometimes brown.
i could stare at you for days
and never see you.
i heard
the dead arpeggios
of a songbird.
i heard the buildings burning
and falling somewhere in the distance.
