Image for the poem GONE

GONE

The sun's companionship
I had always neglected
The breeze's loosened grip
I had hastily shredded
The words 'neath misery's tongue
Like a king's faithful pawn
And a song of wisdom I had sung
When everything was gone

A guilt that never came to pass
A standstill life while seasons pass
An instrument of flesh and bone
A price to pay for seasons gone
