For Love or Money
Poised upon my window sill
I glimpse your manly presence below
Strolling arm and arm with her
The other woman, I regretfully know
Yet, to witness her beauty is a first
Innocent smile graces pallid white skin
How would devastation darn upon her face?
Should I unmask our sin?
We teetered on a daring line
Innocently started with a kiss
Then passion’s waves submerged us
Your predicament, we chose to dismiss
It played as a game of hide and seek
Secret rendezvous among the night
Where desires lie uncamouflaged
Lovers’ flame burned oh so bright
Void of warning, it abruptly ceased
For, you professed a guilty heart
Though claiming your love for me
From wedlock, you refused to depart
It was upon the lonely days to follow,
Revelation brutally came my way
The matrimonial vows you honored
For richer caused you to stay
Now I am left with this burden
Revenge feels oh so sweet
Should I risk the humiliation?
In the name of causing him defeat
Perhaps, redemption should abound
Newfound wisdom be my stake
To grasp the crown of true love
Allow not money to linger in its wake
I glimpse your manly presence below
Strolling arm and arm with her
The other woman, I regretfully know
Yet, to witness her beauty is a first
Innocent smile graces pallid white skin
How would devastation darn upon her face?
Should I unmask our sin?
