You've been Jinxed
Continued from Heartbreak Avenue.
It was two weeks
after the old
rusted lifeless
scrap
we called a car
had been parked
under
the tears dripping
from the long
weeping tentacles of
the Willow
When I realised
those feet on the cracked
plastic dash
Where not shoeless at all
but wore the old, used
military boots
of an unkempt soldier
who'd lost every war.
There was no blonde weed
filling the cracked plastic seats
She was a lifeless brunette
with thick used lipstick
and cheep garlic perfume.
Her dark spectacles didn't
cover her eyes
from the sun
glaring through my cracks
They hid her
Hid her from her own truth
A truth she probably knows
But either can't say
or can't articulate
Maybe it just scares her
Maybe it scares her as much, as it scares me.
