rend my wayward heart
love falls big sometimes, like sneak-attack bombs dropped
from warplanes, delivering the sound & the fury of exploding
battleships in Pearl Harbor.
and so she dropped into this dark place thru a hole in the daylight:
pristine, unarmored paratrooper, in her tank top & short shorts.
she followed a street made of tears & broken hearts, distorted
love poems abandoned in the gutter, to arrive at my chamber.
in a brief sabbatical from my loneliness, I welcome every whore &
wanton woman, who comes with unrequited hedonism & pretended
love. after wine & kisses, I made her stand in the wild storm, where
the rain is not rain but the cumdrops of ghosts.
she cried from the indignity of it, & from the perverse desire that
had slept inside her. I scraped her pretty face with my tongue &
swallowed her tears to taste her sadness: her sublime sadness,
manifested by my arrogant abuse.
out of her intestinal defiance, she spoke. ‘I want you to love me, but I
know you can’t love, so instead, I will let you do terrible things to me.’
on our bleak nights together, I invade the tight, unguarded sanctums
of her womanly seduction. her ass is tender, & brilliantly scarlet after
a good beating. on her knees, she beckons the juices of my agony in
white streaks on her face & breasts; the bitter glaze that makes her
beautiful. these are our sins. we surrender, & their fire surrounds us.
we are hitchhikers, thumbing for a pickup
on the short ride – from here to eternity…
