The Few

I see the tides of the water now
With one foot in and another out
Seems deeper now than ever before
My foot can touch the ocean floor

Now as the leaves rest on the pool
Disrupting the starving, gasping school
The surface is playful but dangerous too
The leaves are ripped and remain few

Those few now brave the dangers beyond
The current sweeps, our few are gone
Lost adrift at blinding speeds
Far from Love or other needs

Now our few will learn by themselves
Saved by those who further delve
Inside the waters of death they say,
“Children are drowning and must be saved!”
