another trespass amigo swan song
i remember
the snow turned our hands to fire as we balled and threw it at every smiling face
i remember the drums and wings and light like wind
that danced the leaves
i remember thinking you will never be mine
when you first arrived
always and only
the worlds
the wedding of a thousand lady bugs in the old mountain church
the jellyfish harem and the stinging of flesh
the false remedy of a urine bath
the truth that
lemonade or a feather and smoke will always work
as long as ten minutes
has passed
the smashed
glass on the vending machine
the paranoid rush to eat all
the evidence in
one night
the cigarette the russian
the blow up doll
and a photo worth 10,000 words mailed to my wife
the betrayed promise not
to throw up in the car
the second wedding
lost keys on the beach
and a pair of pants
the sign over the button
only for emergencies
the clanging alarm bell
that woke an entire motel
the sunset the river
the cemetery
the cop-van the camera
the crutches
the cliffs the quarry the school roof
another round of judges
and places promised
to never go again
and now its not us
that trespass
but death
in mutant cells
run riot in
the brain
the snow turned our hands to fire as we balled and threw it at every smiling face
i remember the drums and wings and light like wind
that danced the leaves
i remember thinking you will never be mine
