Making Plans
He’s starting to make plans again; despite
The things packed in a case against her will,
He brooked no argument though it was night;
Her pride would not protest;
She’d wait until
He walked her to the jetty and he placed
Her in the care of a captain, he knew
Would use her kindly; if the girl had graced
His bed another night, dreams could come true;
Or would they burst asunder? If she thinks
This night is one she’d never want to pass,
She’d try to disembark; it’s then she blinks
To find the boat is encased in green glass;
As she wakes up, she sees the mantelpiece
And all the ornaments that decorate
The places where her fingers can’t release
Her from the plans he has to make her ache.
The things packed in a case against her will,
He brooked no argument though it was night;
Her pride would not protest;
She’d wait until
He walked her to the jetty and he placed
Her in the care of a captain, he knew
Would use her kindly; if the girl had graced
His bed another night, dreams could come true;
Or would they burst asunder? If she thinks
This night is one she’d never want to pass,
She’d try to disembark; it’s then she blinks
To find the boat is encased in green glass;
As she wakes up, she sees the mantelpiece
And all the ornaments that decorate
The places where her fingers can’t release
Her from the plans he has to make her ache.
