Down

How do I save a sinking ship?
Plug the holes with my fingertips?
Use a mug and throw the water out
one cup full at a time?

The water's at my ankles now
and my shoes are sopping wet
My life should flash before me
but my life was such a mess

I'd like to be remembered
but the sea, she forgets
I'll be sea foam, I'll be rain
a grain of sand with no name

I used to think there's glory
in taking pain silently
but now I think it's better
maybe to know when to leave

Water has reached my waist now
I think back to the sunshine
Laying out on the deck with you
with nothing on our minds

So consumed with the view
that we didn't see the storm
We were facing the south
and we didn't check the north

I don't know how this ends
but it hasn't been feeling good
I love you so much I ache
but i think it's misunderstood

I can't save this by myself
and you don't seem to want to help
I don't think I have much hope
I can't find you or the life boat

The water is reaching my lips
it's good, I've no more to say
I went down with my ship
I went down with my ship.
