A Poet's World
Welcome to a poet's world,
And don't become offended.
You chose to give your all for this,
So write and take your medicine.
I know you can't imagine this,
There's no such thing as writer's block.
It isn't very pretty
But I want to save your life.
Who said that you could go to sleep?
You think you have a passion.
You've just begun to feel the pain
And you've run out of bandages.
But after such a short time here
Your thoughts turn suicidal.
You think that it's the answer,
Oh it's only the beginning.
Consider Plath and Sexton,
Do you think they R.I.P.?
So I bet you all my proceeds
That they're turning in their graves.

As one who has twice chanced a self-throw of the dice and lived to tell the tale...
A permanent solution to a temporary problem...
I love the perspective you offer...

Thank you, our dear cat, how you honor me my effort.
I'm also grateful how inaccurate you were, both times, at craps.🎲

it consumes us, this savage lust.
your poem is the torture we inflict upon ourselves,
a terrorism that is uncommon from you...

Yes, John; uncommon from, but not to me. It's a dangerous profession, and an obsession I've had since age 14. And over the years when I see one of our own going to rot, I say what I know to knock their senses back,
again,
until the next time.
again,
until the next time.

Thank you, dear es, I hope you never know how much, this dark side. If you read Hep's and John's comments that I'm also in the middle of answering, you'll see how it's touched each of them.

Re. A Poet's World
Alright now you've done it :) I've been hiding behind writers block these past few months. I guess you're expecting me to be me again. Thank you for reminding me of my tribal responsibility to write ;).

Re: Re. A Poet's World
Well I seldom blurt that out, cause in the past some writers NEED to believe such a thing exists so they have an excuse to coddle themselves. As for my own hands-on experience, I found out years ago that there's no such thing. I was collaborating with a fetish photographer on a coffee table of his latest work and wanted me to write poetry to accompany a number of those photos. I wrote two dozen writes over two weeks. I had never managed such a feat until then, and was writing other pieces for other projects at the same time. I have never had a writer's block episode since, and I discovered why, and THAT is when I as an author became enlightened. 😳
I hope you'll receive your own eureka moment - I don't try to change a writer's way of thinking, but I let you know it can happen to you. I wish you all the best on this issue of struggle for so many (which is only part of what my poem is about.
esteem,
ever

Writers block is not a problem, sometimes I just don't want or need to write, but when I do words come easily, although they need some effort to knock them into shape. It was Tchaikovsky who said that creativity is 5% inspiration and 95% perspiration. So to those who claim writers block, I suggest that it might just be laziness.

Oh my, this comment of yours rather fell through the cracks! This is very late, but redressing that oversight at last, sir... your words have their own corner of their own that holds up to certain of those who consider themselves writers of sorts. I appreciate when you stopped by to read & express about my poem, thank you.
