Speak like they do
He thought
I wanna speak like they do
he didn't look like them
and he knew they knew
when they called out to him
Like "Hey you, little guy,"
But sometimes vocal chords
betray you
And it's the words themselves
that stay glued
Until he learned the sounds
that they used
Strange tunes
The first song he learned
was "why"
And their answer was
"To play, fool"
so foolishly
he played too
And his tongue
made his word to
stay smooth
His second verse
was "how do I"
And so more and more
He tried to
and he spoke
with pride
And found sometimes
in lies
Truth
Almost obsessive contemplation
with the difference in dictation
until his light shed revelation
He said
"I wanna speak like I do"
And so he just
spoke his mind
I wanna speak like they do
he didn't look like them
and he knew they knew
when they called out to him
Like "Hey you, little guy,"
But sometimes vocal chords
betray you
And it's the words themselves
that stay glued
Until he learned the sounds

with the difference in dictation

spoke his mind
