THE PRINCESS AND THE PRINCE

You know that I am your prince
But I have not seen you since,
That day we spent outdoors
Now all I see is walls,

Well I build walls
And demolish bridges
I call it my high castle
Where I don't lift a muscle
And don’t feel the need to struggle
In this world of hustle and bustle
Where you can only survive by tussling
And they say “am fussing"

From hustle and bustle
That castle is what we built,
The glass full of my love,
Well you spilled it,
And the bridges were what we used to connect with,
So tell me my princess,
Is what you feel less?
All that I feel is less
What we had was not love but a mere mess
And every night you wounded my chest
And made me feel like I was under arrest

But for you I did my best,
Turns out it was a test,
And to you I was like a pest,
So I guess I get a failing grade,
For it was not love we made,
So let's call a spade a spade.

It’s funny how you call it love
Forgetting we shall never be as peaceful as doves
Quoting scriptures from psalms.
Well someone's got to do the job,
But I guess it won't be be anymore,
Our "love" has been a one way street,
For now I accept defeat,

If you were truly a prince
You would never accept defeat
You would keep our love on repeat
And our love would have the front row seat
And it sure as hell would be lit
But you do you booo,
And take a seat.

Beat, repeat, defeat, deceit,
All these things I accept them,
For I am not the one you want,
For you never seemed truly happy around me,
So I set you free,
Do not think of me less,
Goodbye my princess,
I'm sorry I could not impress

I did not want you to impress
Nor purchase me that fancy dress
But to be my knight and shining amour
Always dressed in your protective vest

A time comes when the armor no longer shines,
And the vest no longer has a chest to protect,
And to the knight,
We told him goodnight,
For there is no longer a battle to fight,
