You

When I knew you were coming
I was overjoyed.
When I knew you were coming
I had curls in my hair, green eyes and no shoes on.
When I knew you were coming
I doubted the indications that said it was so.
When I knew you were coming
I wondered what I should eat, do, be.
When I knew you were coming
my heart swelled to the size of a beast that ate the rivers and the towns and the cities that went before.
When I knew you were coming
I never wanted to lose you again.
