Hollow

I'd scythe fight with the Reaper to rob graves for their secrets
Searching for answers that don't exist and others I probably couldn't live with
Why is peace always the first casualty?
I'd pass at the chance of immortality
If all that it means is seeing everything that I ever cherished just perish in front of me
I'd hate to always be the last man standing
Again and again
Refusing to make connections because there's nothing left in the end
Build just to break
It'll take all of my strength to drop half of the weight
I bet it would hurt less if I thought I still had a purpose
I know somewhere you're in a paired universe
Still singing to birds and the earth is perfect
And you're watching me wait my turn
Through the ragtop of a patina beetle
Imagining you in the passenger seat
Wishing you didn't have to leave
