a lost generation
they lived a while and left and now we weep
weeping for the hole left in us down so deep
deep down should guilt reside more than sadness
saddened by the loss of life yet for its denial we are guilty
guilt should devour all of humanity
humans playing god with other humans' lives
living is a privilege granted to a few
fewer conceptions make it into this world
worldly beliefs have robbed us an entire generation
generational convictions, tolerances and silence
silently we watch newborns strangled to death
dying by the mere ingestion of a pill, shame
ashamed are we? I guess not
noting down statistics of those who once lived
leaving out those who never made it here.
