CONSESSIONS
(a sonnet)
Can I contain with words so leather bound
All of those thoughts that end and come in you
Should my restraint bring poet’s joyous sound
That all your wants in me are coming true
If I should be laid low and there remain
Unworthy in this life before love bent
To find relief in where you touch my pain
And so release before your love’s repent
With every blow, my way is proven hard
In every lashes’ stripe upon my back
Though unrelenting I am left unscarred
For in your love, I smile at such attack
I bask in love to serve your every need
Before such love, how could I not concede
Can I contain with words so leather bound
All of those thoughts that end and come in you
Should my restraint bring poet’s joyous sound
That all your wants in me are coming true
If I should be laid low and there remain
Unworthy in this life before love bent
To find relief in where you touch my pain
And so release before your love’s repent
With every blow, my way is proven hard
In every lashes’ stripe upon my back
Though unrelenting I am left unscarred
For in your love, I smile at such attack
I bask in love to serve your every need
Before such love, how could I not concede
