You're Not the One
You're not the one,
I know that.
You're not the one,
That's a fact.
I've never been with a guy,
Just for the sake.
I'd rather be single,
Be true to myself than be fake.
It started off so well,
And should have got better.
Spending hours on end
With nothing but endless chatter.
We're suddenly in reverse,
Surely that can't be right?
Should I give up now,
Or are you worth a fight?
I've told you how I'm feeling,
But I don't see you trying.
Am I expecting too much too soon?
I'd hate to be the one left crying.
It's been a while for both of us,
For you more than me.
Perhaps you're accustomed to the single life,
Maybe you're just not yet ready.
You haven't been completely transparent,
For reasons I understand.
But why this sudden silence?
I simply can't comprehend.
There's things about you I already dislike,
So I definitely shouldn't settle.
Or else I'll be using up energy
By fighting a losing battle.
I wasn't looking for the one,
When I found you.
Just a casual romance,
Any sweet guy would do.
I found you and I was happy,
If only for a while.
Your name appearing on my phone,
Would always make me smile.
Now messages are very scattered,
Phone calls even less so.
I don't think I've done anything wrong,
I guess I may never know.
Perhaps I should have stopped,
When I realised you weren't the one.
Perhaps I should have stopped,
When it ceased being fun.
I know that.
You're not the one,
