Into dust

Brick by brick
The imaginary wall
I had built up
around my being
had slowly crumbled
to reality
No longer protecting
my inner person
The struggle
through all chaos
has managed
to break apart
so many pieces
of what used to be me
All fragments so
worn and rugged
Into dust
my ego disintegrates
into the earth
as if set free
but it was never there
My heart is swollen
from emotional abuse
and countless actions
or lack thereof
It swells to bleed out
its own emotions
coating in the process
hardening like candy
inedible for the beast
that continues to feed
on the better parts of me
draining my soul
and sucking the life from me
as if I could breathe alone
on my own
with a diminishing spirit
A broken heart
A bruised ego
and shattered mind
No padded room could help
No life after this mess
would ever be a vision
I protest
against the idea
of the burned definition
of "love"
Everything is now ashes
of what once was
