East Welville- Chapter One: The Unknown
QUICK NOTE-So um, I decided since I'm at home sick and I have nothing better to do to start some kind of story series cause why the hell not. The main character, Jamie Trio, is from a story I scrapped not too long ago but I loved this character so much I wanted to make them the main character of this story. Also, I have no idea where I' going with this story. At all. So I guess leaving some suggestions for it in the comments would help out a lot. And lastly, Jamie's gender will NEVER be revealed. It's purely for you to imagine. Okay I'll shut the hell up now ha, happy reading. -Rosie xo
Chapter One- The Unknown
“I guess we’re both teen runaways” a scratchy voice woke me from my sleep.
“Huh?” my body shook. Where was this? Oh yeah, the train. My head turned to the voice. A girl with short bleached hair and a choker was smiling at me.
“Name?” she beckoned
“Jamie Trio.” I mumbled, keeping my eyes on my suitcase.
“Trio, what a cool last name! I’m Kelli Mitchell.”
“Hey Kelli.” I must have looked gloomy, even though I could assure you I wasn’t. I was just tired, extremely tired. Who wouldn’t be if they only got a hour of sleep? Kelli rested her head on my shoulder and I quickly moved away. I wasn’t trying to seem rude, I just had a thing with other invading my personal space.
“Okay then” she laughed “So Jame, what are you running away from?” I swallowed. What was I running away from? I couldn’t answer a question I didn’t even know the answer so I quickly made an excuse.
“For a stranger you really seem to wanna get into my business.” I looked over at Kelli, she looked a bit hurt. Oh god, this always happens. “Sorry,” I mumbled. Really and truly, I didn’t want to come off as rude. Kelli actually seemed nice, and I’m going to need as much nice people in my new life as possible.
“Hey, it’s cool Jame. But all best friends start off as strangers at first.” Best friends? We only just met and she wanted me to be her best friend. This girl was weird, but also pretty cool. “How bout’ this. I’ll tell you why I ran away and sooner or later you gotta tell me. Promise?” I sighed. Did she have any clue how strong she was coming off? I really wasn’t one for promises, I always broke them, but looking into Kelli’s large brown eyes I couldn’t tell her no.
“Fine. I promise.” I grunted
Kelli took a deep breath, then started. “Alright. I grew up in this suburban town, like so suburban. I literally lived in this cul-de-sac. It sucked. And I was failing in school. Up until eighth grade I got straight A’s and then I realized it was kinda pointless. My whole life was taken up by constantly doing homework and studying. I wasn’t really living. So I took more time for me, ‘Just Kelli Time’ as my ma called it. I made art. Tons. And I was pretty good at it too I’m not gonna lie. So up until 11th grade i got mainly B’s, some A’s. And I was completely satisfied with that, I mean I still studied and such when I wasn’t working on my art. But then the work got harder, and more time consuming. I also didn’t understand it.” Kelli stopped when the conductor announced the next stop. Was this mine? Wait, what is my stop? My body froze and my face was burning. Kelli continued. “So I decided to completely give up on school. My mom started getting pretty pissed when the highest grade on my report card was a D+. I told her that now to me grades didn’t matter, that I wanted to be an artist. She..she most definitely wasn’t happy about that.” she laughed, then carried on “So for about a good two weeks I gave up art and tried to get better grades, and I was unsuccessful. I tried to show my ma how I was trying my hardest but she’s too stubborn to realize that. What a b***h. So I said ‘screw it’ and ran away. And now I’m here to pursue my career in art.” Kelli bent down and rummaged through her suitcase and pulled out a drawing pad. “Here’s some of my latest stuff” She flipped to a picture of a girl in dark hallway, at the end was this door with rainbows beaming out of it. However the girl was being dragged away from it by some shadow demon.
“Wow, this is really good.” I said.
“Thanks! Anyway, now I’m going to East Wellville.”
“East Wellville?” I asked, the name rang a bell.
“Mhm, it’s where all the runaways go in Jersey. There’s musicians, art kids like me, even some odd people like the magicians. Everyone has a place there. Isn’t that where you’re going, my fellow teen runaway?” I had no clue where I was going. I was planning on visiting my friend, Dave, to explain my situation to him, but East Wellville sounded like a cool place. What really stood out to me was how everybody has a place, something I always wanted. So on impulse, I made the decision to follow Kelli there.
“Yeah totally.”
“Cool! We can stick together.” I grinned. For once in my life I was excited to go into the unknown.
Thanks for reading!:) Please, please, PLEASE leave a comment about some things to do with this story and such. Like I said, I don't know how long it's gonna be or where I'm going with it and I need your opinions on it. Thanks!
