I'm Drowning

Can you please try to listen?
I’m drowning , can’t you see.
A life raft won’t save me
I need you to swim after me

Oh look, it’s almost up to my eyes
And you keep throwing your rope
But it's not reaching me
We’re both losing hope

I try yelling after you
But your screams of panic drown me out
I can’t swim, now
This water keeps piercing my skin

I see you crying,
But what do you do to stop me dying?
I hear your muttered prayers for a miracle
But do you know that here, now, you can be a savior?

Water fills my lungs
Down, down, down I go
At last, you take a leap of faith
But unfortunately, it’s too late

You say you did the best you could
But your best wasn’t good enough
But do you know if you really thought I was in danger,
You’d do that a while ago?

You say I rejected help
But you knew it actually wasn’t reaching
You say I never called out to you
But you actually were actually too loud

Can you please try to listen?
You miss me now, I see
I know you tried to help me
But why did you wait so long to go after me?

this is an older poem of mine, I just don't think I'd be able to post much new stuff today since tests and such but I'll make sure to post the next Chapter of "East Wellville" tmrw. -Rosie xo
