Synesthesia

‘Seeing decades’
Is the only way in the English language that I have to describe it,
it reaches far through space and time.  I used to have the fleeting
of a split moment in thought, already gone, all throughout my life,
and that if I could have only caught that flash, that breath of an echo;
it was the meaning of it all.  All of what I do not know.

Five years ago now it’s been since the cascade started.  It was what
happened when all those flashes came calling home; all the echoes.
I saw the meaning of it all – and still yet, all of what I do not know.

This started me on my journey writing, writing that I sat and promised
a three year old little girl as she sat learning her alphabet back in 1971,
and that someday it would be the escape for her. I was three years old
then when I started writing.

I heard one of my great heroes, Andre Agassi, say it best as to
the relationship:  "I bet I won Wimbledon about a million times
before the age of ten”  LOVE tennis. I followed his entire career
from start to finish as he lost his last game, a broken man,
but gave one of the greatest victory speeches the world has known.
Then he retired and helped children – his main goal all along.
Tennis was never his dream and Wimbledon scared the hell out of him.

The escape in writing out the decades – maybe the great one
where I never have to return to this mathematical plane at all.
