Society Today

I don't understand the content of music today,
What happen to that old school that could make you feel a certain way.
People want to be flashy talking about their private lives,
All the money they have, the drugs they do and how nice of a car he or she drives,
To me this is just an attempt to spark jealousy,
But I can just look at your career versus mine and know you make more than me.
So what's the point in putting it in a song,
There's so much more to life music could focus on.
Let's talk about love like our elders did back in the day,
Lord knows this society could use some more love in it anyway.
Let's talk about what the next four to eight years will be like now that Obama's term has come to an end,
Many say he was a bad President anyway, well you can pretend.
What would it be like if a certain candidate win,
You know who I'm talking about, what then?
Let's talk about the people who gun down the innocent little boys and little girls,
Whether it be police brutality or result of other foolish criminal activities in this world.
Now don't think my last statement is me practicing hypocrisy,
Because yes I'm part of the justice system, people tend to put you in a box but you can't entrap me.
Yes I proudly display my pray 4 police band,
Because I'm not going to fault the multitude because of the amount in hand.
To me that's just ignorance because if you actually sit back, open your eyes and see,
There's good and bad in all of us, and all these different groups in this society.
You can't say all whites are serial killers because that's who you see get labeled that the most,
You can't say all blacks are lazy and criminals, there's many successful, law abiding to the upmost.
You can't say all teenagers are aggravated robbers because for some reason, and for the life of me I don't know why but that's the new trend,
So how about instead of placing judgment we just provide a helping hand to lend.
I challenge the music world to have some more substance,
Now don't get it twisted I'm not solely placing the burden on them but their craft has the easiest form of influence to inspire justice.
It still takes each and every individual to make the difference, every single one counts,
What's your individual worth, you the only person who can decide those amounts?
