(一)
ancient spring rites  
long before Christianity
still alive and well


(二)
after the long fast—
balance of day to night
life's cycle avows


(三)
Ishtar & Damuzi  
freed from the Underworld
winter's death—spring's life


(四)  
in her honour
Ēostre, goddess of spring
arrives with the hare


(五)
winter's banishment
this year's victory of spring—
light the Easter fire


(六)
renewal and rebirth—
the egg, its promise to come
germinates within


(七)
repopulating—
the hare wasting no time
'tis a custom


(八)
after the equinox
the green of springtime's riot
and eggs abound


(九)
a resurrection
sprouts of green also ascend
glories to provide


(十)
between the pillars
temple of Aphrodite—
love's aspirations
