Contemporary darkness
Midwinter storms bring shrouds of clouds
that block the sun while raining down
yet the two are so unbound
that soon the cumulus are no longer found
But my days are black and there is no sun
no glow of hope to wish upon
it's safe to say I thought my skies were done
so I took root and drank from my own poison
Still I see no light making the day
but who needs it anyway?
I have the stars and found my moon
I am the evenings impending doom
I am the night, pavor nocturnus in the flesh
and I've made men fear their rest
I am the shadow the light reflects
forever and always only second best
My eyes prefer the night time though
and I'm not looking for my sun to show
I don't care if it's never again to rise
as long as the moons shine
casts your shadow next to mine.
