Water girl

.
dolphins play, circling riptides
spouting their curiosity
next to me and from behind,

blowholes that rise from
the rolling hills of deep ocean,
carrying me through fields

where their young cling
to each other, laughing aloud
at how much a plaything

they see this species is,
so out of my depths
even as they welcome me

I said this to Grace earlier during the middle of my night, I'm sure she won't mind if I share it:
"I love anything to do with the sea and anywhere it meets with the land.  My mother used to call me "water girl"....a girl who swam in the Pacific all the time, always too far from the beach, scaring my family.  But I knew I had nothing to fear."
