Clear Lake
I laid her down,
In a river bed,
She had closed her eyes
Tired as the dead.
A ways she floated,
Waters caress the hair warm as the jet stream,
Now a friend to fish,
My underwater queen.
How I miss the missing,
Thinking she must be lonely beneath the deep,
Those blue lips I could be kissing,
I'll bring a friend for her to keep.
I study them for connection
With eyes of a mind both brilliant and insane,
Starting a collection
Sank deep beneath clear lake with a cinder block attached to chain.
I visit my loves
Throwing treasures to the watery deep,
Imagining their glow, skin white as doves
They fly as angels in dreams of sleep.
Clear lake I hear to me your call
Sent from my mermaid babes,
Tripped into the lake I fall,
They came alive and held me in their watery grave.
At all hours you cannot hear the screams
Masked by clear lake waves,
But when the moonlight is just right
You can see them all underwater on those dark days.
In a river bed,
She had closed her eyes
Tired as the dead.
A ways she floated,
Waters caress the hair warm as the jet stream,
Now a friend to fish,
My underwater queen.
How I miss the missing,
Thinking she must be lonely beneath the deep,
Those blue lips I could be kissing,
