Buried Alive
With such grace do I let you down
Ever so gently and unexpectedly
You feel the grass graze upon your feet
Just before you find yourself six feet into this Earth
So much dirt
The overwhelming pressure upon your aching chest will never end
The painful shooting shards of pain into the throat cause the tears to leak from their rightful place
Trapped behind dry eyes no more
Falling freely down your cheeks moistening the substance surrounding you
Drowning you
The heat and fury of rage and frustration starve you of sanity
I let you down so soft and tenderly
You barely notice when I drive the stake into my own aching chest
The stake you handed me for one purpose and one purpose alone
To drive into your own still-beating heart so you wouldn't have to be alone
