Image for the poem We Are One

We Are One

Vapoured breath in chilled air
Intensified in nights sodium glare
Wet mirrored world beneath feet
Concrete slabs reflecting little relief
Cold the crowds can't hide
Within bones of all it abides
Passerby with facade of goodly cheer
But under all, I see the fear
Imagined or real
Night crawlers among city walkers

Millions of hardened souls feet
Pound depravements of sorry streets
Commuters but faces
Familiar strangers in stasis
Between narcotic filled vials
And Armalite smiles
Brothers an sisters lost trust
As dreams turn to lust
Urban weight am going under
To you I look, an wonder
Seeds we sow, beds we lay, an slumber
Is love real
Or but safety in numbers

Lost in smog, where is home ?
Dragged down to drown in the undertow
Poisoned minds flow
Intoxicated generations grow
Zombeites steel stare
Subways to nowhere
Neon painted frightmare
Hand in your hand
Brace to make a stand
To run from this loveless fallen land

Polytheism, Monotheism
Murdered in me atheism
Twisting drudging sanity
Forgotten faced diety
Faith in Him or faith in me ?
Leave nothing for Humanity
You made the play
Is to you I pray
On my knees at your alter
Everytime that I falter
Outside the rain falls ever harder
In your church I get stronger
Real flesh, real blood, real bone
A sanctuary I can call home
