Dumped
You
never
knew
You were the last tree
waiting to fall
before your island
was swallowed
by the storm
His calling card
a bleached heart
rendered slowly
with no emotion
or salt
until love wash-crumpled
and finally torn
sent him skulking away
while the stars muttered
Judas
I told you
I told you
so many times
And now life's busy signals
hound your calls
the cell a wand
of screaming thorns
a dumpster's hope
where memories crawl
while the dogs
bark bitter
stealing the night
never
knew
You were the last tree
waiting to fall
before your island
was swallowed
by the storm
His calling card
a bleached heart
rendered slowly
with no emotion
or salt
until love wash-crumpled
and finally torn
sent him skulking away
while the stars muttered
Judas
I told you
I told you
so many times
And now life's busy signals
hound your calls
the cell a wand
of screaming thorns
a dumpster's hope
where memories crawl
while the dogs
bark bitter
stealing the night
