Ammunition
Jealous minds elect to burn
Acid thoughts encased in steel words
Shot from places where sleeping demons lie
Insecurities they never had the time to find, forget “to tame”
Just blink your eyes and throw the blame
Because you don’t want it, it’s not yours
I've never seen this particular portion of hate before
And hearts are forever shrouded in doubt
Guilty bullets left behind from old victims you've forgotten about
And it’s not as if the punishment doesn't fit the crime, but more like the crime didn't exist
The punishment evaporated
We are killers of self-esteem and hope for the future
We lost that “friend” because we couldn’t reach her – after we pushed her off the cliff.
And these same murderers think this is fun
To vandalise the moral compass as if it were no more important than an abandoned brick wall, and that somehow this is a game they won
But this isn’t an accusation
It’s just an outburst of poorly worded frustration because we are all so tired
Everyone knows that when you speak, you hold a mirror to your mouth
And now here we stand with our own acid bullets embedded in our stomachs, eating away at the lonely parts of us that – until now – we didn't even know existed.
It’s a never ending war of attrition – the exhaustion of resources
Hurling everything you have in the form of a blade that’s long been stained red
Until you have nothing left
You realize that in your haste for war that you've even given up the parts of yourself you thought you liked
And now there are only the parts that you don’t like
And we are all murderers and vandalizers and the shells of empty bullets wrapped in steel casings and soaked in acid but we’re not afraid.
They should really build a jail.
