a vagrants tale
Blue lights illuminate
The doorways that we stay in
Another sleepless raining weekend
Coins in exchange for smiles pretend
Souls sold for a warm meal and a cup of tea
Hearts melt at the thought of whiskey
A warm bed and good food is all
All I need to take me away from the poor
The poor existence that's left me in the lost and found
Now I search for cigarette pieces on the ground
Look how you stare and mock I
I fought for this country and was prepared to die
Go ahead say what you say
It's not you sleeping in any old doorway
Oh wherever I lay my hat that's my home
But I own no hat and I sleep
All alone
The doorways that we stay in
Another sleepless raining weekend
Coins in exchange for smiles pretend
Souls sold for a warm meal and a cup of tea
Hearts melt at the thought of whiskey
A warm bed and good food is all
All I need to take me away from the poor
The poor existence that's left me in the lost and found
Now I search for cigarette pieces on the ground
Look how you stare and mock I
I fought for this country and was prepared to die
Go ahead say what you say
It's not you sleeping in any old doorway
Oh wherever I lay my hat that's my home
But I own no hat and I sleep
All alone
