A SIMPLE SONG - Love Poem
On this summer's night we lie in the moon's
bright light, wondering Who are we?
Who are these forms which entangle, having no choice?
Yesterday you did not exist.
Today my tongue melts upon your skin.
I bring back the hair from your temples fragile
and glabrous as though fresh from birth and kiss them,
having no choice.
Who can say who we are? Except your eyes amaze my own.
My hand trembles to your perfect flesh.
The deepest dreams remain unborn
Till we can touch them
As I can touch you now.
bright light, wondering Who are we?
Who are these forms which entangle, having no choice?
Yesterday you did not exist.
Today my tongue melts upon your skin.
I bring back the hair from your temples fragile
and glabrous as though fresh from birth and kiss them,
having no choice.
Who can say who we are? Except your eyes amaze my own.
My hand trembles to your perfect flesh.
The deepest dreams remain unborn
Till we can touch them
As I can touch you now.
