BEYOND

Held my hand
In the wilderness
And along the muddy path
Where ragged children said
This is not real
No horizon limits us
Or can be breached

And the word said
You're no worse than the best
Or better than the worst

Rubbing my back
Raw from carrying
The dirty water carboy screams
A plastic of poisoned streams
This is not real
This nightmare's but a dream
And we dream and dreamer

Standing on the statehouse steps
Holding a nations future declined
Fist held sheets on rubbish streets
And the skid of brakes proclaim
This is not real
But a bound ebony body
That must obey the beyond

Whale, my goodness. Having lived in deep south Mississippi on the heels of segregation, this is as true now as then. We have made strides, we have. But we still have a long way to walk to annihilate racism and bigotry. And yes, we are not alone under a prime directive. Our Source compels those seeking truth and light find and follow us, even unto our death. King would be proud of you for this. No, wait; He is.

This is such a beautiful comment Ahavati! As I write this I sit not in the Deep South but in central Africa - our inability to see how we are connected to each other, no better than each other allows us to allow inhumanity to continue - whatever our race, creed or any other transient differentiation! Bless Ahavati!
