I fell foul of the limerist's curse
I forgot: in the writing of verse
inattention to rhyme
is a bad enough crime
but corruption of meter is worse.

Thank you. I wrote it a few years back... and must have liked it enough to keep it in a heap of scrap paper (yes, I am that old)... after I found a site called Dr Limerick. The site went into great detail about how to write them and though it may still be around the last time I looked it was just a shadow of it's former self.

Thank you. I wish I knew who came up with my favourite limerick:
There was a young fellow of Trinity
A doctor well versed in Divinity
But he took to deep drinking
And then to free-thinking
And so had to leave the vicinity.
Triple (and almost quadruple) rhyme gets me every time.
