Boring Ass Poets

why are you such  boring ass poets? asked the poet master.
is it your words? your subject matter?
No.
it’s your misunderstanding of poetry.
you’ve failed to grasp the grasshopper.
you let the purpose get away.
you tried to hide your crime and failure with words.
but the poet master is an astute detective—
he sees where you went away.
and that’s where you went wrong,
you went away.
you chose the path that was safe because it was paved
by footsteps.
you didn’t venture, you didn’t hunt.
you scavenged. and that’s why you’re a boring ass poet,
a boring ass writer.
the world is full of boring ass writers. said the poet master.
so don’t let that grasshopper get away.
