Trapped
It seemed so cozy
At first
Just you and
Me and
Us
The warm, wooden scent
Of our getaway
As we curl up
By the fire
Entwined
The chill creeps in
Flame fed by
Rotten kidling
Slowly dying to embers
They say to stay where you are
When you're lost
And don't know
How to navigate the forest
Alone
So we stay
Exit boarded off
Sealed with
Fear of the unknown
Rekindling
Was never going to work
The wood's eaten through
With time
And hard fought apathy
Striking match
After match,
A vain refusal
To admit defeat
Rats in the walls
Or are those
Old grudges
Scratching through the vaneer
Frost bite
Turning fingers black
Accusing
You call me frigid
But you don't see
How cold my heart's become
At first
Just you and
Me and
Us
The warm, wooden scent
Of our getaway
As we curl up
By the fire
Entwined
The chill creeps in
Flame fed by
Rotten kidling
Slowly dying to embers
They say to stay where you are
When you're lost
And don't know
How to navigate the forest
Alone
So we stay
Exit boarded off
Sealed with
Fear of the unknown
Rekindling
Was never going to work
The wood's eaten through
With time
And hard fought apathy
Striking match
After match,
A vain refusal
To admit defeat
Rats in the walls
Or are those
Old grudges
Scratching through the vaneer
Frost bite
Turning fingers black
Accusing
You call me frigid
But you don't see
How cold my heart's become
