Roots
Stepping out of the shower
Cascading water dripping from my head
Coiled tightly
It makes me smile
My reflection staring at me reveals
A coily frizzy untamed low luster
Mane
I own it
It's mine
Sometimes it takes me hours to comb through
Detangle
Moisturize and get this thing right
But the work never goes in vain
Everyday I am learning different methods
To appreciate my mane
Jet black in color
Wild as ever
Natural hair
You're one of the best choices I've made

Coiled tightly

I can't say I can directly relate since I started losing mine the first year in college, but it always is soothing to see someone comfortable in their own skin.

so much to say in regards to this...but i'll keep it short..
i appreciate that you chose to maintain your natural mane..
didn't give up on what God gave/gifted you at birth
like the earth tend to all the roots in your garden..
love yourself from 'head' to toe..from the ground up to
thy thickened crown..blaque n brown need not ever frown
upon their natural occurrences...be patient and cultivate
all that is you queen
much respect

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
Both of my daughters have taken to wearing their hair naturally - and they look beautiful - confident, no long feeling the need to conform to "the standard".
Great ink.

I love this lil sis! Nothing like a woman wearing her mane naturally and you have the facial features to pull it off so queen-like. :) The last few years have had me contemplating seriously going natural but then I look at my forehead and round face and I'm like, 'umm no, I'll be lookin' like kizzie', lol... and I'm lazy when it comes to doing my hair(beautyshop). This coarse-wool hair of mine needs it's chemical cocaine fix. :)

"We Need You" poem-
*...sitting on the front pew, waving my white hanky saying, "you betta' preach girl!" * :)
....since you chose the opt to not allow comments on your poem, thought I would show my appreciation for your words here. Inspirational ink sweety and I love the message, couldn't agree more!
(...and I get why you elected not to hear from the public. Religion over the internet is very dicey! I stray away from topics myself, cause I'll end up losing my religion cursing folks out about baby Jesus.) Love your voice!) xo

My sis,
Lol I am beyond weak laughing at what you said. Aww my gosh , but no to each it's own and I'm certain that hair of yours is so beautiful. I am blushing and my cheeks hurt from smiling from the praises you send my way. It means more than you know Rain.
See you totally get me there. I didn't want to expose myself to those debates ( Don't want to have to pull the lion out of me) Lol. On that church pew I'm right beside you waving my fan too. Just so many things today hurt me, But I will forever make the conscious choice to be different , love all, and send support in all aspects. Hahahha Oh yes hunniiiee, they would not be ready for a round two with my sister and I 😊❤️ Hugs to you

Sweetheart,
I prefer the natural look. I love the curls, I compliment woman that maintain their natural look. I sometimes get the most puzzled looks in response. Big,curly and beautiful. Nothing like being comfortable in your own skin.

Vivid_mocha, luv ~ :-*
Absolutely! I've been natural for many, many years and I always find it incredibly heartening when someone stops me to ask how I do my hair or tells me they like the look of it, though invariably that seems to occur on days when I think I've lost all control of it and it's a wild thing with a mind all its own. ;-p
However, tis a journey well worth taking.
The other day a mother approached me, said she loved my curls, and asked how I got them so defined. We talked for a while and I gave her all the information I could to help her as she tried to honor her mixed daughter's hair. She told me in the course of our conversation of being approached in the supermarket one day by a woman who told her she needed to relax her daughter's hair. She said she was relieved to find someone so willing to help her understand and embrace her daughter's hair as it is.
You keep honoring your gorgeous hair, luv. :-* Brilliantly written.
