Un-willing
Keen wit behind glass shields were my shields, too.
So tall, that first encounter eye to eye.
"Do they look dumb on me, as they on you?”
A wicked flash, her words no love imply.
But mind and heart did self fully betray.
And as she turned and walked with no pursuit,
Her face was burned in brain and there would stay.
And I, unwilling acolyte recruit.
Together then, now half a world apart.
At times, me wishing we had never met,
For blaming her that I had broken heart.
But knowing truth, "that" love’s forever set.
And to this day, I think about her still,
‘Though will it not, I prob'ly always will.
