Perfect
May they bury you with pride,
Cause I won't be by your side.
So staunch in your perfection,
As our love was cast aside.
Truly saw yourself blameless,
Dignified by such trait.
Couldn't see your reflection
In that oh so shameless state.
I didn't need a *perfect lover...
Not a perfect anything!
Still you cast me 'neath a cover,
And refused to let me sing.
Brought me your love in darkness,
With promise of evermore.
But left me to rot in starkness,
Graced by those that you loved more.
But something wrong in paradise,
Now it's my name you call.
But I won't be your sacrifice,
'Not at your beck and call.
No, I find quiet perfect,
Just because silence don't lie.
Your love holding me circumspect
As I slowly watched *us die.
It may be your pulse gives way first,
But love, remember this.
The death Fate's dealt me is far worse...
One sealed by your kiss.
And when you find there's no-one left
For pointed fingers to blame,
Recall who thought themself perfect,
And introduce yourself to shame.
