That Moment Changed Me Forever

Filled my life with busy
So much busy,
Didn't even notice, or care, really
That the one I supposedly loved
Was making plans.

The noise of his impatience,
Cinched the drawstrings
A little more each day
'Your getting fat'
'You don't look healthy'
'You need to go to the gym'
'Your breasts are starting to droop'

And I stood there,
And took it
With a 'I know'
And 'Sorry'.

Who the fuck was that!!??

Usual morning it was,
Early, so early,
Business we owned
Had to be opened.
He slept in, as I did this
Most mornings.

Dark still, edging on winter,
I picked up his phone,
Thought it was mine, innocent mistake
We have the same phone..
H-'See you tomorrow night'
S-'I can't wait to suck your cock'
H-'I can't stay long'
S-'I know, I'm not new at this'

I'm not new at this......
Cemented, staring at those words.
Didn't know how my heart could deafen
In the darkness of that room
In the darkness of morning.

Then I felt it..
Not pain, not fear, not sadness
My breath snapped me out of it,
Inhaling, as I forgot to,
Exhaling 'Holy.....shit'
I felt freedom.

This, I had to wait for this.
Business sold fast,
My sweat built it, he reaped.
But I was free.
