Your Love
I guess deep down I always knew,
That no matter what I’d do,
I would never be good enough for you,
Never be the daughter you wanted,
Never come close to being worth it,
Your love is like a mirage,
The more I keep going after it,
The further I get from it,
And I know I’m not perfect,
I really don’t want to be,
But I need you to stop,
Don’t try and live through me,
Let me build who I am,
Even if its on shaky grounds,
And if I ever come crashing down,
Please help me get back up,
And if that’s a lot to ask for,
Then all I want is a simple hug,
A kiss on the check to show me,
That I’m still alive to you,
Or is that also too much?
That no matter what I’d do,
I would never be good enough for you,
Never be the daughter you wanted,
Never come close to being worth it,
Your love is like a mirage,
The more I keep going after it,
The further I get from it,
And I know I’m not perfect,
I really don’t want to be,
But I need you to stop,
Don’t try and live through me,
Let me build who I am,
Even if its on shaky grounds,
And if I ever come crashing down,
Please help me get back up,
And if that’s a lot to ask for,
Then all I want is a simple hug,
A kiss on the check to show me,
That I’m still alive to you,
Or is that also too much?
