Hurt
You stood beside me, held my hand
and didn't cry nor shout nor crumble.
A shovel full of dirt and sand
you scattered and you looked so humble.
Your lonely eyes would fill with tears
and drowned in water was their light.
We lost her after all these years
and by this loss we broke inside.
You turned around and left her here
and never spoke another word
Your last words I hold forever dear...
Daddy, tell me, why does it hurt?
and didn't cry nor shout nor crumble.
A shovel full of dirt and sand
you scattered and you looked so humble.
Your lonely eyes would fill with tears
and drowned in water was their light.
We lost her after all these years
and by this loss we broke inside.
You turned around and left her here
and never spoke another word
Your last words I hold forever dear...
Daddy, tell me, why does it hurt?
