My friend
I wish I knew what I had done
We were best friends, now you're taciturn
You were always reticent, reclusive and refined
But with me, you were jolly well fine
I wish you told me what went wrong
we can't turn the past
But I wish for answers, for reason I long
I don't know why you don't speak anymore
We shared the love for animals, keeping names
Oh! How we loved to love them
And now I can't even call you by your name
Bitterness and ill-will has taken you away
Wish you could read this, may be you would know
You were my first friend in college
And now you treat me like you don't know me any more
It pains me to live everyday with this guilt
That I may have wronged you and we had to split
If only you could read this, you would be sure
That I will always be your friend
And I will always be ready with a cure
You might have bid our days goodbye
You might have forgotten the fun-filled times
But I will always love you and remember you
As the very first friend of mine.
