anya anastasia

do you remember?
mamas smokin and sippin
chicken, rice and cutlets
shorteats for the shorties
that game your daddy lets us play
smashing the screen of the desktop
Lara, agressive three year old
baby bottle was deadly
we treasured that pink monopoly
i always wanted your nintendo

before it got dark
we walked in the back
broken swimming pool
we collected the baby blue tiles
you could find anything there
you could be taken away
any time

that artsy arab lady
she said we were like her girls
showed us art
didn't need a man
drank only red wine
told us we were strong
when we needed it most

i didn't understand
why i saw you on tuesday
you didn't call home on wednesday
mama said we couldn't go on thursday
but my party was on friday
what did i do?

you called me on saturday
at a crazy hour
from a Spanish number
you told me you had to go
because your daddy

do you even remember my name?
or did your therapist tell you that
i was never real?
a figment of your imagination.
