it may sound simple to some, but the ability to give something or do something good for others and keep it hidden in you isn't easy. Most expect accolades in some form, even just by telling of their good deed. The real depths of good are in doing good because it is right and that being the reward in itself. lovely gem here, thanks :)
Yes, that's sort of what inspired this. I got a nice gift for someone, and though I didn't expect a gift in return, I at least expected a "thank you" and didn't get it. Now I've been heartbroken and butthurt (for lack of a better word) for two days and harboring resentments. :(
Definitely...I am so hard wired to expect something when doing/giving something. Even expecting someone to say "thank you" is an expectation. And sometimes, even a simple expectation as that is, can often lead to disappointment.
